BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – All local seniors are invited to attend a fun-filled baby shower on Friday, April 26 at 1 p.m. The community event will feature an Alice in Wonderland-themed costume contest, door prizes, trivia games, and 50/50 raffles.

Prizes for best costumes will also be awarded. It will be held at the Martin Andersen Senior Center at 1025 S. Florida Avenue in Rockledge.

“We’ve planned a fun-filled, philanthropic baby shower to support the much-needed services offered at Agape Pregnancy Center on Merritt Island,” said Valerie Alday, President of Martin Andersen Senior Center.

“All proceeds go directly to Agape, which offers free, confidential services, including valuable parenting classes, for those in a crisis pregnancy situation.

“The community is invited to join us on Friday, April 26. We ask that attendees bring unwrapped baby items, such as newborn diapers, or baby food. Come out and enjoy refreshments, socializing, and trivia games. Alice In Wonderland costumes and creativity are encouraged.”

The Martin Andersen Senior Center has 850 members, and is known as an active senior center that provides social and recreational services for Brevard residents age 55 plus.

Agape Pregnancy Center offers educational services, pregnancy testing and adoption referrals. Susan Raynor is Interim Director and Dr. Janie Geraci serves as Medical Director.

“The Agape Pregnancy Center was overwhelmed with gifts from Martin Andersen Senior Center’s 2018 baby shower,” said Raynor.

“Last year’s shower enabled us to expand our ministry and provide gift baskets for newborns. We see hundreds of ladies each year, and we commit to having them in our program for 12 months. Parents that attend our classes earn credits – credits they can use to shop our Baby Boutique for diapers, clothing and baby food. The Boutique is supplied 100% by donations.”

Solaris Senior Living Merritt Island is a 501 c3 assisted living community on Merritt Island and has partnered with the Senior Center to support this community minded, one-of-a-kind event.

“We want to foster community spirit in Central Brevard by encouraging local seniors to join us at this festive, philanthropic baby shower,” said Alday.

“Any donated baby gift is appreciated and directly benefits Agape.” she said.
