BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will continue its 10th Anniversary season with a multi-media concert event “Celebrating John Williams” on April 27 and 28.
On April 27, the concert will be held at the Scott Center for Performing Arts, located at 5625 Holy Trinity Drive in Melbourne. On April 28, the concert will be held at Vero Beach High School, located at 1707 16th Street in Vero Beach.
Conductor and Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins will conduct 18 pieces by the legendary film music composer, with selections from Superman, Jurassic Park, E.T., Hook and more. Multiple pieces will be played from the Star Wars film series, including A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Attack of the Clones and The Force Awakens.
Two musicians will be spotlighted during the concert: Principal clarinetist, Jennifer Royals will be a featured soloist during “Victor’s Theme” from The Terminal and SCSO Concertmaster, Carey Moorman, will play the violin solos in the musical selection from Schindler’s List.
Several pieces will be accompanied by on-screen movie clips.
A true musical icon, John Williams has composed the music and served as music director for more than one hundred films. In 2005, the American Film Institute selected Williams’ score to the 1977 Star Wars as the greatest American film score of all time.
His six-decade career includes a 40-year artistic partnership with director Steven Spielberg, which resulted in many of Hollywood’s most acclaimed and successful films.
Inspired by movie film scores to seek a career in orchestral music, Space Coast Symphony Orchestra conductor, Aaron T. Collins acknowledges that Williams has been a towering figure in his life.
“I grew up with the music of John Williams front and center in my life,” said Collins.
“His ability to convey action, excitement, drama and every conceivable human –or alien– emotion through his film music inspired me to become a musician in the first place.”
GET TICKETS TODAY: $25 advance tickets for adults are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at the orchestra’s official ticket outlet, Marine Bank & Trust. The concert, Celebrating John Williams, is free for those aged 18 and under or with a student ID.
