Cocoa PD Locate Stolen Orange County Patrol Vehicle After Reports of Person Impersonating Police Officer

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police officers, Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies and Rockledge Police are investigating the theft of a stolen Orange County patrol vehicle on Thursday.
Cocoa police received a call around 1:41 a.m. from a citizen reporting a hit-and-run crash in the area of Greenwood Way.
When officers responded to the area they found a black Cadillac had crashed into a garage at 1107 Greenwood Way, along with several parked vehicles were hit in the area of Japonica Lane.
Police say the black Cadillac was confirmed stolen from West Palm Beach and the occupants fled the area.
According to witnesses, the Orange County patrol vehicle, a marked white SUV, had its lights activated and appeared to have been in pursuit of the Cadillac at the time of the crash.
When police officers were investigating the crash scene, an officer witnessed the Orange County patrol car attempting to pull over additional vehicles in the area.
After making contact with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office confirmed the patrol vehicle was stolen in Rockledge. Officers then witnessed the stolen patrol vehicle attempting to stop a black Nissan in the area of Fiske Blvd.
The stolen patrol vehicle fled from Cocoa officers, but was later recovered abandoned behind the Save-A-Lot Plaza on Dixon Blvd.
Orange County deputies have recovered the vehicle and are working with Rockledge police to process the vehicle and investigate the theft.
Cocoa Police officers and detectives are investigating the crash and the reports of impersonating a police officer.
The investigations are still active as multiple agencies attempt to identify and locate the suspect(s) involved.
No injuries were reported during the crime spree.
