BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Junkanoo Island Kitchen and Rum Bar at Port Canaveral will conduct a grand opening on Thursday, May 9 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. at the new 190-seat island-themed establishment, located at 626 Glen Cheek Drive.

The restaurant was extensively renovated by partners Rich Hensel and Gary Foreman and is located directly on the water of Port Canaveral’s busy harbor.

“Patrons can enjoy panoramic views of cruise and cargo ships from the spacious covered “daiquiri deck” or dine inside and watch the preparations through the windowed, display kitchen,” said Hensel.

“Junkanoo features two spacious bars inside and out with large screen TVs and live music.”

The name “Junkanoo” is drawn from the annual parade and festival observed in the Bahamas at Christmas and New Year’s.

Appropriately, the ambiance of Junkanoo Island Kitchen and Rum Bar is come-as-you-are casual and fun and the interior is bright, colorful and airy with imaginative, re-purposed fixtures, furniture and décor.
