NBC to Host First Democratic Presidential Debate, Set For Miami June 26-27

Miami, Florida will be the host city of the first Democratic presidential primary debates set for June 26 and 27. The debate will be held over two nights due to the many candidates vying to take on the Republican candidate in 2020.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The host city of the first Democratic presidential primary debates is set for June 26 and 27 in Miami, Florida.

The debate will be simulcast on NBC, MSNBC and Telemundo, which will include with Spanish translation. It will also be streamed on NBCNews.com, MSNBC.com, NBC News Mobile App, and OTT apps, in addition to Telemundo’s digital platforms.

The debate will be held over two nights due to the many candidates vying to take on the Republican candidate in 2020.

The ever-growing list of Democrat candidates includes U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, D-NJ; South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg; former U.S. HHS Sec. Julian Castro; former U.S. Rep. John Delaney, D-Md.; U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hi.; U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY; U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif.; former Gov. John Hickenlooper, D-Col.; Gov. Jay Inslee, D-Wash.,; U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn.; Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam; former U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke, D-Tex.; U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.; U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.; and entrepreneur Andrew Yang.

Other candidates who are anticipated to run include former Vice President Joe Biden; U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Col.; New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio; former U.S. Sen. Mike Gravel, D-Alaska; former Gov. Terry McAuliffe, D-Virginia; U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass.; and U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif.

According to the DNC, the debate lineups for each evening will be determined at random to provide each candidate with a fair opportunity to make his or her case to a large, national audience.

“Miami is the perfect place to introduce our extraordinary presidential candidates to the country,” said Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Terrie Rizzo.

“When they take the stage, they’re going to show the American people that the Democratic Party is the party of ideas. We’re fighting to empower voters, expand opportunity, and build a brighter future for all Americans. People are hungry for new leadership in the White House, and after the first debate, they’re going to be fired up and ready to organize for Democrats.”
