One of the most prominent innovations the world has witnessed in recent years is the advent of voice-controlled devices. Voice-control is not a new feature. The invention of the first voice-controlled device dates back several years, but the evolution of this tech over time has caught people’s eyes.

Though there are plenty of individual voice-controlled gadgets, one innovation that’s garnering extensive attention is, Ghafarado’s – The Pad, a voice-controlled smart home. Ghafarado features a range of voice-controlled devices that are operated through a smartphone and a simple internet connection.

Omar Al Mohammed, an international model, nutrition and skincare consultant, dance choreographer, personal coach, innovator, and entrepreneur is turning heads with his latest global innovation.

Bahrain-based Omar Al Mohammed may have been one of the youngest innovators in his home country, but he has big dreams that cross boundaries beyond it.

Omar came up with the idea of building on the power of voice commands while using maps on his phone. It was then that he took the first step towards his most ambitious project coming to fruition. In less than a year, Omar had set up a modified version of a robot vacuum cleaner with a voice control feature that could be operated through a mobile phone.

Inspired by the Iron Man movie released in 2008, Omar created a voice-controlled smart home, which is not just Bahrain’s first but also the first in the Middle East.

Omar’s smart home, Ghafarado’s: The Pad has been named after his nickname ‘Ghafarado.’ To execute his dream project, Omar brought an apartment in the most prominent area of New Juffair, Manama.

Ghafarado exhibits some of the technology-led systems such as voice-activated curtains, Wi-Fi screen refrigerator, Smart coffee maker, sensor angled hood, smart clock, and voice-controlled sockets and switches.

Today, the apartment is filled with technology unparalleled in the middle east region. He has also incorporated devices of some of the world-renowned brands such as Samsung and LG.

Besides this, the apartment boasts beautiful sea view balconies, and high ceilings. Putting his vision into action, Omar has maintained minimalistic designs with a basic black & white theme and a touch of grey & silver adornments.

The social mission of bringing Bahrain to the spotlight is what drives Omar.

To date, he’s added various distinctive features to his smart home. To this, he adds, “I think I am going to be more vocal about the smart home. Not because it will grab more attention, but because I think it will inspire other innovators and entrepreneurs to look into mission-related work. I wish to be an example that other folks can look up to.”

Creating a smart home in an otherwise reluctant community of Bahrain, Omar Al Mohammed initially drew ire from cynics. But today, the same smart home has made both national and international headlines. Omar Al Mohammed’s journey is an inspiration for everyone looking to make a difference in the world.
