BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Solaris Senior Living and VITAS HealthCare are inviting the community to “Coffee with A Cop” on Thursday, June 20 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Local residents are invited to attend, ask questions, and get to know deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department.
The event is open to the public and will be held at 535 Crockett Boulevard on Merritt Island.
“We’re excited to host this event. Coffee with a Cop is an opportunity for the community to meet local officers – share a cup of joe – and chat about issues that matter to them most,” said Shawn Corley, Solaris Senior Living Administrator.
“Crime prevention officers from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to meet the citizens they serve, discuss issues, and learn more about each other. We thank VITAS HealthCare for co-sponsoring this community event.”
Coffee with a cop is a national initiative supported by the U.S. Department of Justice. The majority of interactions that law enforcement shares with the public occur during crisis situations.
Coffee with a Cop attempts to break down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction between citizens and officers.
Similar events are held across the country as local sheriff and police departments strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.
Coffee, donuts and fruit will be served at the June 20th event.
