Susan launched Spring Forward For Autism

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – In lead up to Brevard County’s biggest charity fundraiser of the year, the 2019 ‘Dancing for the Space Coast’ dancers are practicing their final dance routines this week for the event on June 1 at Florida Tech’s Clemente Center.

With a sold out crowd ready to pack inside the Clemente Center, one of the dancers in this year’s event is Susan Belcher.

Susan is a Dancer and Choreographer who is a University of Colorado Boulder graduate in Theater, Dance, and Music. Susan is passionate about Dance, Fitness and Health.

She became certified in Zumba and Zumba Gold as well as Group Fitness Training where she teaches and coaches at her own studio Fitness On Fifth.

Most of her time is spent raising money and awareness as well as building up support for our Autism Community in Brevard County.

Susan is the mother of two young boys and after her oldest son, now 10, was diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum Disorder, Susan launched Spring Forward For Autism as way to raise money for community outreach programs and vocational trainings as well as providing Family Support Grants to fund diagnosis, Behavioral/ Occupational/ Speech/ Mental Health Therapies along with tutoring and educational support for those not able to afford the costs of imperative early intervention and life changing support.

“We support families by connecting members of our Brevard County Autistic community, empowering and inspiring others, raising public awareness to foster advocacy, and furthering access to available resources.

Susan’s Instructor: Primo Garcia

Primo began dancing when he was 3-years-old.

At age 10, he was already choreographing his own routines.  Although he was initially fascinated with hip hop, his interest expanded into encompass a wide variety of dances.  He began pursuing interests in Modern, Jazz, and Contemporary dance styles.

By the time he was 24, he began a career in Ballroom dancing.

Primo has worked to master International Standard, International Latin, American Smooth and Rhythm at both social and competition levels of dancing.

Primo has recently returned to Florida after spending a year with the Dance With Me Dance Studio, working with some of the top dancers in the country. During that time, Primo performed on Broadway in Sway and on Good Morning America.

Last year, over 800 attendees gathered on June 2 at Florida Tech’s Clemente Center for the fourth annual Dancing for the Space Coast. Over $250,000 was raised for local nonprofit organizations.

The program for this year’s event starts at 6:30 p.m. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m.
