BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police increased staffing with additional specialized units patrolling the city streets during the evening and late night hours of the 2019 Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
A focused traffic detail consisting of Titusville Police Officers and Florida Highway Patrol State Troopers worked the streets of Titusville, along with normally scheduled patrol officers, in a joint effort to enforce traffic compliance on Sunday and into early Monday morning.
These additional units made a DUI arrest, conducted 56 traffic stops and issued 7 citations.
Titusville Police social media outlets posted proactive messages leading up to the weekend encouraging motorists to “Designate Before You Celebrate”, in an effort to prevent drunk and impaired driving during the weekend festivities.
Officers and troopers observed a higher than normal presence of community members taking advantage of ride sharing, taxi rides and vehicle towing to get themselves and their vehicles home safely.
“This special detail showed a constant law enforcement presence along the major roadways promoting our goal of improved traffic safety,” said Lieutenant Tyler Wright.
