BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Police in Titusville say a two-car crash happened on Friday when a local woman stopped her vehicle in the travel lane to assist a turtle crossing the two-lane roadway near Grissom Parkway.

The woman, identified as 65-year-old Patricia Diane Dillard from Titusville, stopped her 2018 Nissan Rogue in the southbound lane when she was rear-ended by another vehicle around 11 a.m.

The person in the other car, identified as 41-year-old Christina Lynn Campbell from Cocoa, was traveling southbound on Grissom Parkway when she rear-ended Dillard’s vehicle.

”We strongly urge against driver’s stopping their vehicles in the middle of a travel lane because it creates a significant risk to public safety,” said Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson.

“Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured in this incident.”

Titusville Police are still investigating the crash.
