U.S. Coast Guard Searching for Missing Vessel Caught in Storm East of Port Canaveral

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a missing vessel in the waters east of Port Canaveral. According to a release from the USCG, the organization’s command center in Jacksonville received a distress call at 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon stating that the vessel was caught in a storm and needed help.

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a missing vessel in the waters east of Port Canaveral.

According to a release from the USCG, the organization’s command center in Jacksonville received a distress call at 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon stating that the vessel was caught in a storm and needed help.

When the USCG received the call, they say an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and a 45-foot response boat-medium from Port Canaveral began searching. They add that an HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft also launched from Miami to help as well.
