Volusia County Deputy Frank Scofield Killed On His Bicycle After Driver Blows Through Stop Sign

VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of Senior Deputy Frank Scofield on Sunday after he was killed while riding his bicycle.

The Sheriff’s Office says Scofield died when a driver of a vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and struck Scofield at the intersection of Tomoka Farms Road and Pioneer Trail.

Scofield, 58, had been with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office for 24 years.

“Frank Scofield was a great man and it was a privilege to work with him. He will never be forgotten,” said Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood.

“My heart and my prayers are with everyone who knew and loved this one-of-a-kind legend.”
