BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Thanks to the strong relationships Brevard Zoo has formed, some of their female kangaroos allow them to conduct daily “pouch inspections.”
Brevard Zoo keeper Michelle captured this footage of a day-old, jelly-bean-sized joey latched onto mom Emma’s teat.
The joey is very vulnerable at this state, and Brevard Zoo will continue to keep a close eye on their development.
Brimming with upgrades and additions, Lands of Change: Australia and Beyond puts a new spin on the beloved Australasia section of the Zoo.
This area is now open daily from 10 am – 5 pm.
Here’s what you and your family have to look forward to:
- Komodo dragons (the world’s largest lizards and a new species to the Zoo)
- A walk-through kangaroo habitat
- Redesigned cockatiel and lorikeet aviaries
- A 100-seat theater for educational presentations
- The return of Visayan warty pigs, wrinkled hornbills, cassowaries, emus and more
