An Arizona man was bitten by a shark Saturday afternoon in New Smyrna Beach, according to Volusia County lifeguards.

VOLUSIA COUNTY • NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FLORIDA – An Arizona man was bitten by a shark Saturday afternoon in New Smyrna Beach, according to Volusia County lifeguards.

Lifeguards say the shark bit the man on the right thigh.

The man has been identified 49-year-old William Angell from Arizona.

Angell was treated by Volusia County Ocean Rescue and drove himself to a nearby hospital for treatment.

His injuries were not life-threatening.
