your voicemail and answering machine are your best friend when it comes to avoiding scammers
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – All too often your cell phone rings a single time from a phone number that you are not familiar with.
While you may be tempted to call the number back because you don’t want to miss the call, don’t do it, as you could be falling into the exact trap the telephone scammer laid for you!
Scammers use autodialers to call phone numbers that often appear with three-digit area codes to make it seem as if it is a United States based phone number.
The phone number may actually be an international toll phone number and if being scammed is not bad enough, you could be billed for the international call.
Telephone scammers use various types of frauds and technology to target you and in fact, have become one of the most problematic scams we face today.
The good news though is that there is a simple rule to avoid them…if you don’t know who it is calling, don’t answer the phone.
Trust me when I tell you that if it’s someone you really need to talk to or someone who really needs to talk to you they will leave you a voicemail!
I actually use this technique even when it’s my kids calling cause I know it’s gonna cost me so I send them to voicemail – just kidding but your voicemail and answering machine are truly your best friend when it comes to avoiding scammers.
