IMAGES: Fast-Moving Blaze Guts Home On Province Drive in Melbourne, Brevard Fire Rescue Assists

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Fire Department was called to 3634 Province Drive Monday afternoon about 2 p.m. to battle a fast-moving residential house fire that originated in the garage and destroyed most of the home.

Melbourne Fire Engine 77, Engine 72, Truck 76, Tower 74, Rescue 81, District 70, District 74 and District 60 arrived with nearly 100 percent involvement of the first floor, with fire extending to the second floor and attic.

Assisting Melbourne Fire was Brevard County Fire Rescue Engine 81.

Flames and smoke could be seen for miles as additional apparatus and crews were called in as the fire was out of control in the attic prompting firefighters to go defensive to continue suppression efforts.

The occupants of the home escaped and there were no injuries reported.

Fire inspectors are on the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.
