Unique Weathervane Design Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Mission

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing in July 1969, Dorset Weathervanes have a created a stunning limited edition commemorative weathervane.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing in July 1969, Dorset Weathervanes have a created a special limited edition commemorative weathervane.

“I remember visiting a neighbor’s house to watch the live TV broadcast in 1969,” reminisces owner Dorset Weathervanes Graham Smith.

“As a cherished childhood memory, I wanted to capture that legendary moment.”

Dorset has created a unique handcrafted weathervane depicting a saluting astronaut standing on the lunar surface next to the iconic American flag, with Apollo 11 with a distant earth in the background.

Only 11 of these special weathervanes have been made as a tribute to the Apollo 11 mission, each sequentially stamped, offering a wonderful opportunity to own a genuine object of functional artwork that also serves as a tribute to a truly historical human achievement.

Dorset Weathervanes have been producing specialized, bespoke pieces since 1986, supplying more than 9,000 individual vanes in more than 20 countries.

Specializing in unique designs, both personal and eclectic, each piece is constructed from 16 gauge mild steel, galvanized and etch primed, and coated in a special two-pack black gloss for a hard wearing finish.
