BPS Will Continue to Provide No-Cost Breakfast to Students Under the National School Breakfast Program

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County schools operate under Provision 2 guidelines and will continue to offer healthy breakfasts every day at no-cost to all enrolled students during the 2019-20 school year. Brevard County has offered no-cost breakfasts to enrolled students since 2001.

The Provision 2 breakfast program is a federally funded program which enables Brevard Public Schools to provide a breakfast, at no charge, to every student.

The program is funded via federal reimbursements through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Food Nutrition and Wellness.

The School Breakfast Program promotes the increased consumption of high quality, nutritious, agricultural products from Florida.

Studies have shown students participating in the School Breakfast Program have improved attendance and punctuality, increased attention and memory recall and improved math, reading and standardized test scores.

During 2018-19 school year, Brevard County Food and Nutrition Services served over 3.8 million breakfasts at no-cost to Brevard County students.
