Brevard County Sheriff’s Agents Nab Armed Burglary Suspects After Traffic Stop of Stolen Vehicle

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Agents with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, North Precinct General Crimes Unit, have arrested 18-year-old Jonathan Verro, of Cocoa, and Donavan Chatman, of Cocoa, for armed burglary.

Verro was charged with Armed Burglary to a Dwelling, Grand Theft, Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Firearm by a Delinquent.

Chatman was charged with Armed Burglary to a Dwelling, Grand Theft, Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm by a Delinquent and his probation was violated.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office,  the investigation began on Wednesday, August 7 when the victim’s Titusville residence was broken into and a vehicle was stolen from the garage.

Responding deputies patrolled the area for the stolen vehicle and later located it at Jones Fish Camp, located at 2000 Jones Avenue in Mims.

“Deputies coordinated a traffic stop of the vehicle, where Chatman and Verro were occupants,” said a BCSO spokesperson.

“Agents from the North Precinct General Crimes Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The agents discovered there were multiple items located inside the stolen vehicle from the residence.”

According to BCSO, a stolen firearm was located inside the vehicle, which was used when Chatman and Verro broke into the Titusville residence.

“Agents were able to confirm Chatman and Verro stole the firearm when they broke into a Cocoa residence, on August 5, 2019,” said A BCSO spokesperson.

Verro was transported to the Brevard County Jail and Chatman was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice. Both suspects are on No Bond.
