notice will be updated after bacteriological survey shows water is safe to drink

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A water main break on Wednesday evening has prompted the City of Melbourne to issue a precautionary boil water notice for the following areas:
• Indialantic customers who live south of U.S. 192 (Fifth Avenue)
• All customers in Melbourne Beach
• All customers in unincorporated Brevard south of Melbourne Beach
The notice will be updated once a required bacteriological survey shows the water is safe to drink, though the earliest those will arrive is Saturday, the city says.
The city said that this notice impacts 4,000 people in total.
They add that all water used for drinking, brushing teeth, cooking, making ice or washing dishes be boiled. A rolling boil of a minute for water should be sufficient, the city says.
Customers will be alerted when the notice is lifted via a Code Red Call, and news will also be posted on the City of Melbourne’s website along with its Twitter and Facebook page.
