Melbourne Police Arrest Two After Making City-Wide Sweep of Individuals On Probation and Parole

Officers from the Melbourne Police Department, along with members of the Florida Department of Probation and Parole, conducted a citywide operation last week to ensure compliance for those individuals on Probation and Parole. Arrested were Matthew Daniel Summers, 35, who was charged with Violation of Community Control; and Athena Nicole Schneider, 39, and charged with On-Site Violation of Felony Probation.

BREVARD COUNTY MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Officers from the Melbourne Police Department, along with members of the Florida Department of Probation and Parole, conducted a citywide operation last week to ensure compliance for those individuals on Probation and Parole.

According to Melbourne Police Commander Marc Claycomb, the operation focused on 50 offenders currently residing in the city of Melbourne.

“During this operation, the team contacted 46 offenders, including six registered sex offenders, to conduct compliance checks of their residences,” said Commander Claycomb.

“During this operation, two arrests were made, charges are being filed on a third,” said Commander Claycomb.

One arrest was an on-site violation of probation and two arrests were for violations of Community Control. Officers also seized 12.6gm of Fentanyl and 3.0gm of Methamphetamine.

Arrested were Matthew Daniel Summers, 35, who was charged with Violation of Community Control; and Athena Nicole Schneider, 39, and charged with On-Site Violation of Felony Probation.

“The Melbourne Police Department and the Department of Parole and Probation are committed to working together to maintain the safety of our community. Joint initiatives like this ensure that offenders comply with conditions of their probation and parole,” said Commander Claycomb.
