BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – State Attorney’s Office has announced that 41-year-old Daniel Aaron Blair has plead guilty one count of Second Degree Murder, one count of Burglary of a Dwelling and one count of Robbery, in connection with the death of 63-year-old Christopher Johnston at his Titusville home in March.

As part of the plea agreement, Judge Kelly Jo McKibbon sentenced Blair to 40 years in state prison for Murder and 15 years in prison for both the Burglary and Robbery.

Blair has been transferred to the Florida Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.

The case began on the morning of March 22, 2019,  when Brevard County deputies were called to home on 1800 Kirby Drive in Titusville and found Johnston’s dead body.

A witness reported that Blair told him he killed someone and was planning to flee the area.

Using this information, the investigation revealed that Blair entered Johnston’s house attempting to rob him, killed Johnston during the attempt, and then stole his truck and other property.

At approximately 5 p.m. that same day (Mar 22), Ormond Beach Police arrested Blair after he fled in Johnston’s truck and subsequently crashed.

Blair was indicted by a Brevard Grand Jury on April 23 for First Degree Murder, Burglary and Robbery. Subsequent negotiations resulted in a plea offer. Prosecutors then met with Johnston family members and law enforcement to obtain their input prior to reaching a resolution.

“The final agreement represents their desire, and ours, for justice on behalf of Christopher Johnston,” said a spokesperson with State Attorney’s Office for the 18th Judicial Circuit.
