Sandbag Distributions Sites Announced Throughout Brevard in Anticipation of Hurricane Dorian

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will have supervised inmate work crews filling and loading sandbags

Sandbag distribution locations will be announced on Thursday and are being coordinated with Brevard County Emergency Management, Brevard County Public Works and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in anticipation of Hurricane Dorian.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Sandbag distribution locations have been announced on Wednesday and are being coordinated with Brevard County Emergency Management, Brevard County Public Works and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in anticipation of Hurricane Dorian.

Free sandbags will be available to Brevard County residents with distribution locations at the following locations:

The free sandbag distribution was coordinated with Brevard County Emergency Management, Brevard County Public Works and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office will have supervised inmates filling and loading sandbags for residents. The sand and the bags are being provided by Brevard County Public Works Department.

Sand will not be available until 10 a.m., so early arrival is discouraged.

Other sandbag distributions are planned in:

  • West Melbourne: Residents will be able to self-fill up to 10 sandbags at West Melbourne Community Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Access to the park will be from the Minton Road and Wingate/Fell Road intersection only, westbound on Fell, through Max K. Rodes Park and eastbound on Flanagan to enter into the park from the south.
  • Cocoa: Residents can self-fill up sandbags. Specifics on time and location will be provided on Thursday.
  • Melbourne: An announcement on a sandbag distribution and time is pending.
