BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Brevard Zoo’s Sea Turtle Healing Center is sending another patient back to the ocean. “Janeway” the juvenile green sea turtle will be released on Thursday, September 19 at 10 a.m. at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach.

Found stranded at Canaveral National Seashore, Janeway arrived at the Healing Center on April 2.

After undergoing surgery for an abscess and being treated with nutritional support, medication, laser therapy and honey, this sea turtle was deemed ready for release.

Janeway was slated to be released this past Saturday as part of Sea Turtle Preservation Society’s (STPS) Turtle Krawl 5K, but this was postponed due to intense wave action.

STPS has invited all race participants to attend Janeway’s updated release, which is also open to the general public.

A filming and viewing area will be reserved for media personnel, who are asked to check in with a Healing Center volunteer upon arrival.
