NHC: 70% disturbance forms into tropical depression

According to the National Hurricane Center, one of the tropical systems (red x) has a 70-percent chance of formation in the next five days.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – National Hurricane Center is continuing to monitor many storm developments in the Atlantic on Friday.

According to the National Hurricane Center, one of the tropical systems (red x) they are closely watching has a 70-percent chance of formation in the next five days.

The disturbance is located southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands in the Atlantic.

NHC is forecasting the system to become a tropical depression by late Tuesday or early Wednesday morning as it continues to move west.

The other disturbance (yellow x), is located a few hundred miles northeast of the Leeward Islands and is associated with a trough of low pressure.

Significant development of this system is not expected during the next several days while it moves slowly west-northwestward to northwestward.
