EDUCATION SPOTLIGHT: Congratulations to Southwest Middle School’s Media Specialist Carrie Friday

4th annual Space Coast Public Service Awards set for January 11, 2020

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Congratulations to Southwest Middle School’s media specialist, Carrie Friday, who will be among those honored during the 4th annual Space Coast Public Service Awards on January 11, 2020.
Friday will receive the Heavy Lifting Award during Brevard’s biggest award recognition ceremony and recently received a letter from Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey informing her of this honor.
The Heavy Lifting Award is presented each year to exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable, and skilled educators, managers, or leaders in any state-approved or accredited Brevard County School to include post-secondary institutions; who have gone above and beyond normal duties and have demonstrated the highest degree of commitment, professionalism and excellence; who inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn; have the respect and admiration of students, parents, and colleagues; play an active and useful role in the community as well as in the school; are poised, articulate, and as highly effective advocates for their students; possess energy and are passionate.
The awards reception and photographs are set for 5 p.m. and the awards program at 7 p.m.
Last year, well over 1,200 attendees proudly watched as 110 Space Coast citizens were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments and devotion to our community.
The purpose of this event is to celebrate the value and virtue of the highest standards of public service to our community, highlight contributions and devotion, recognize sacrifice and efforts while encouraging future generations of community service.

These highly prestigious awards will recognize and honor our dedicated public servants and citizens who have served with distinction, selflessly serving our community, and whose work can be viewed as models within and outside the work environment.
They have poured their talents, time and resources into helping and improving the lives and future of others.
All proceeds will benefit the Brevard County Public Safety Charity, a 501 c3 that supports public safety members in their time of need. *Sponsorships and Donations are tax exempt.
