Florida Tech Extends Closure Through Thursday Due To Hurricane Dorian

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Institute of Technology has now canceled Melbourne campus classes Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, including all campus events.

Faculty and staff are requested to return Thursday.

The university continues to carefully monitoring Hurricane Dorian, with weather conditions anticipated to deteriorate beginning Monday evening.

On-campus students are encouraged to shelter in place. There are no mandatory evacuations for the Melbourne campus at this time. However, for students wishing to take advantage of county shelters, transportation to shelters will be offered today (Monday), between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Off-campus students, especially those living beachside, should follow guidance of local authorities regarding mandatory evacuations for those areas.
