If you have never been paddle boarding before and are looking to embark on a SUP trip in the near future, then you may be looking for some guidance on how you should go about it.

For those who have never tried outdoor sports before, this type of trip may be a little out of your comfort zone, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t bite the bullet and give it a go.

Before you embark on your adventure, get to grips with the basics of paddleboarding so you can start to plan your trip.

We have put together some of the basics of what you should start thinking about when the time comes to plan your SUP trip.

Be prepared to ‘rough it’

If you’re an outdoors enthusiast, then the very idea of camping and being close to nature may be your idea of heaven. However, if you’re someone who enjoys their creature comforts, then you need to get used to the idea that you will have to live simply.

During a SUP trip, you’ll be sleeping in a tent and may not have access to fresh water; however, you’ll be situated next to the ocean or river which is one of those experiences that money just cannot buy.

Pack wisely

As you’ll be out paddleboarding for most of the trip, you need to pack wisely, as you’ll be spending most of your time out on the water. Here are some of the most important things you should pack:

High-factor sun cream: To protect your skin against the harmful rays of the sun

Ropes: These can be used for an array of things such as make-do washing lines or even to pull your boats towards one another or alongside the rocks when you wish to dock.

Correct clothing: Dependent on where you’re going to be paddleboarding, you may need to pack some warm layers to keep you well insulated, especially during the evenings. You’ll likely be getting splashed quite a lot, so waterproof garments would also be ideal.

Take some activities to do when you’re not on the water

Paddleboarding can be hard work, so think about how you’d like to spend your relaxation time once you’ve finished up for the day.

Your trip should also be some time away for you to simply do nothing and allows your body to re-energize itself for the following day.

Take a book or sign-up to a casino gambling site such as Unibet on your mobile device when you’re out of the water as a way of enjoying your downtime.

Pick the right place

You need to think wisely on picking the right place for your paddleboarding trip, If you’re keen on visiting a particular part of the world, or you wish to see more of a local area, then choose a river or area of the ocean within this particular region so you can see the local sights as you paddleboard.

Pick the right season

If you’re looking to go river paddleboarding, then it’s important you choose the right season. The season can often determine how deep or shallow the river is and it wouldn’t be recommended that you choose to go when the river is low, as you won’t be getting the most out of the experience.
