BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which operates the Canaveral Lock at the Port, will conduct emergency dive operations at the Lock on Thursday, Sept. 19, to inspect and repair the underwater manatee fencing barrier on the sector gates.

The lock will close intermittently while the dive team is working during daylight hours, but the Corps of Engineers does not expect closures to exceed four hours.

Vessels should contact lock operators via VHF Channel 13 or call 321-783-5421.

The Lock will be closed from Dec. 1, 2019, to March 30, 2020, so the Corps of Engineers can conduct needed repairs and maintenance to aging and damaged infrastructure and improve public and vessel safety.
