BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – In the latest edition of “Sit Down with Steve,” Steve Wilson talks with two-time cancer survivor, Julie Spurlock. Spurlock, a Merritt Island native, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age 13.
She battled cancer successfully for approximately 2-1/2 years, only to have it return after a one-year absence.
With the same grit and determination she showed during her first bout, Spurlock, once again, defeated cancer.
During her second bout with cancer, and with the help of friends and family, Spurlock received more than 300 video clips of support from all over the world.
Video clips poured in, not only from individuals in the U.S., but also Australia, China, England, Switzerland, Vietnam, Canada and other countries as well.
Spurlock talked about how these video clips helped get her through some tough times. She said, “they helped more than you can know.”
She went on to say that, “one person sending you a happy thought can make your day.”
The video clips of support helped – of that, there is no doubt.
But, make no mistake about it, Julie Spurlock is the one that looked cancer in the eye and refused to be defeated by this dreaded disease. She is one determined young lady and one that you will be hearing from for a very long time.
