A Brevard County Grand Jury has issued an indictment charging 21-year-old D’Ante Anderson with one count of First Degree Premeditated Murder in connection with the August 11, 2019, death of 27-year-old Denathan Carter in Titusville.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Brevard County Grand Jury has issued an indictment charging 21-year-old D’Ante Anderson with one count of First Degree Premeditated Murder in connection with the August 11, 2019, death of 27-year-old DeNathan Carter in Titusville.

Titusville Police found Carter’s body near the grounds of the Park Villa Apartments, along with shell casings from a 9 mm pistol. Carter had been shot multiple times.

After speaking with witnesses, police identified Anderson as a suspect in the case.

During questioning by investigators, Anderson initially denied any involvement but later admitted to shooting Carter, claiming it was in self-defense.

However, evidence recovered at the scene by detectives, along with the location of wounds sustained by Carter, did not support Anderson’s story.

Anderson was arrested for the murder on August 24, 2019, and held without bond.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from a Titusville Police criminal investigator, a lay witness, and the Brevard County Medical Examiner before returning with the indictment.

Anderson remains in custody and is scheduled for an initial appearance* at the Brevard County Jail on September 18, 2019, at 1:15 p.m.
