BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Theodore Roosevelt’s Elementary School in Cocoa Beach will be adding a tower garden to their after-school gardening club.

The Tower Garden is a vertical, aeroponic growing system that can grow up to 20 vegetables, herbs, fruits, and flowers in less than three square feet-indoors or out.

This will be a powerful real-life teaching tool. It grows in less time and with fewer resources than soil gardening.

In fact, it has been shown to increase yields by as much as 30 percent and triple the speed of plant growth, while using only 10 percent of the water and space.

Grow lights will allow students to garden indoors all school year long, which means bodies, and minds, won’t have to leave the learning environment to grow,” said Janel Zinn.

“And we will be able to wheel the Tower Garden from the classroom to the cafeteria to the playground – and pretty much anywhere else the students are. This will give students an exciting opportunity for hands-on learning.”
