Coast Guard Opens Port Canaveral Waterways with Restrictions, 6 Cruise Ships to Arrive Thursday Morning

Port Canaveral is now open for vehicle and pedestrian traffic and port personnel are in the process of assessing buildings and roadways for damage and safety issues.

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – The U.S. Coast Guard has opened Port Canaveral’s waterways with restrictions and expects six cruise ships to arrive at Port Canaveral Thursday morning.

Ships set to arrive at Port Canaveral include Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas, Carnival Elation, Carnival Ecstasy, Carnival Liberty and Disney Dream.

The State Road 401 bridge will open on the hour beginning at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vessel traffic. There will be no openings from 12 noon to 2 p.m.

The following conditions are currently in place for Port Canaveral:

Vessels with a draft equal to or less than 36 feet are authorized to transit into and out of the port. No transits are authorized for vessels with a draft greater than 36 feet until a full evaluation of the channel has been completed and the Captain of the Port has deemed it safe to transit.

Port Canaveral is now open for vehicle and pedestrian traffic and port personnel are in the process of assessing buildings and roadways for damage and safety issues.

Port Canaveral officials said that restaurants in the Cove may be open for business to serve the community, but is advising the public to contact the restaurant to check their hours of operation before heading to the Port.

If you are a cruise guest who wishes to retrieve your vehicle parked at Port Canaveral, Port officials are working to get the garages open as soon as possible.
