BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Members of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crimes Unit arrested Kevin Harris last week for stealing the credit cards of 25 different victims while working as a server at several local restaurants in Brevard County.

As part of the fraud scheme, Harris was stealing the credit card numbers of customers by photographing their credit cards when processing their bill after their meals at the respective locations.

Once Harris captured the various numbers he would then utilize them to make internet purchases for various items that totaled in excess of $10,000.

In addition to the Internet purchases, Harris would also use the credit card numbers to purchase gift cards that he would then use to pay the bills of customers that were paying in cash so he could then pocket the cash for himself.

As if that were not enough, Harris was also stealing from approximately 10 different retail businesses in Brevard County and then taking the stolen items to local Pawn Shops where he would pawn the items for cash.

In total, Harris netted over $6,000 from this illegal activity as well.

As a result of the investigation, Harris was arrested and transported to the Brevard County Jail where he was held on a “No Bond” status for three counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, Scheme to Defraud, four counts of Criminal Use of Personal Information, Grand Theft, False Verification of Ownership, Dealing I’m Stolen Property, and Retail Theft.

I would like to personally commend the investigative actions of Agent Danny Genova of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Economic Crimes Task Force Agent Wolfgang Kermer of the Melbourne Police Department for the outstanding job they did on working this case and bringing closure to the cases for the various victims.
