BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Lisa Miller, a student at Cocoa Beach karate, tested for her first-degree black belt in Illinois, in front of some the highest-ranked karate sensei from the World Matsubayashi-Ryu/Shorin-Ryu Karate-do Association.

At a WMKA seminar last weekend in Belleville, Illinois attended by WMKA black belts from Australia, Europe and all over the USA, Ms. Miller was put through extensive testing and was successful in making the grade for first-degree black belt.

The belt was awarded by visiting tenth-degree black belt sensei, Toshimutsu Arakaki from the WMKA in Okinawa, Japan.

Sensei Des Chaskelson, WMKA sixth degree black belt and chief instructor and owner of Cocoa Beach Karate noted: “Lisa has shown tremendous discipline and commitment to her karate training and the dojo and students over the six years she has been practicing karate and her black belt is well earned and deserved. “
