BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA — One suspect is in custody after an overnight shooting that left one man wounded and in critical condition at the hospital.
According to Yvonne Martinez, Cocoa Police Public Information Officer, Latray Bell, 27, is facing a charge of aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied structure.
The investigation is still ongoing and additional arrests and/or charges could be made.
“At approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday, patrol officers responded to the area of 904 Peachtree Street after reports of a fight that escalated into an exchange of gunfire,” said Martinez.
“The initial investigation revealed a mother and daughter were outside the Peachtree Meat and Produce convenience store when they were approached by two males in a vehicle. The individuals have an ongoing feud and an argument began.
“The argument escalated into a physical fight which later turned into an exchange of gunfire between the two parties. During the exchange, a male in the vehicle was shot in the head.”
The shooting victim, who has not yet been identified, was taken to the hospital where he is in critical condition.
