FLORIDA – Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) announced that 100 lineworkers and other employees traveled to Northern California to help restore power to areas affected by recent wildfires.
FPL crews from all over the state will work alongside Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) to help the energy company restore power to their customers.
“We know how important it is for all of us to come together and to help our fellow Americans in their greatest time of need,” said Eric Silagy, president and CEO of FPL.
“I want to thank our team for doing their part to help PG&E and their customers. As we have done throughout last year, we always stand at the ready to provide additional assistance whenever and wherever it is needed as our fellow citizens strive to recover from this most challenging time.”
Last year, FPL crews deployed four times to assist with power restoration efforts after natural disasters, including the Camp Fire in Northern California.
In addition, FPL crews, some working as long as three months, helped restore power in the Bayamon region of Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. FPL crews also helped restore power in the Carolinas, Florida’s Panhandle and Georgia in some of the hardest hit areas impacted by Hurricanes Florence and Michael.
The crews will initially be traveling to Sacramento, Calif.
