Florida Tech Men’s Rowing Team Kicks Off Season at ‘Head of the Charles Regatta’

Tech finishes 11th and 12th in the Champ 4+ and LW 4+ races on Sunday
CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS – The Florida Tech men’s rowing team officially kicked off its 2019-20 season Sunday at the Head of the Charles Regatta.
The Red Liners sent up the fours this weekend this compete in the Championship and Lightweight Four competitions Sunday afternoon on the Charles River.
The Champ 4+ got the action started in lane 5 against a heavy field of talented crews from across the country. Florida Tech placed 11th in the race with a time of 16:28.481. Italian crew Fiamme Gialle won the event in 15:48.855, a margin of 0:39.626 before the Crimson & Gray. Brown (15:52.888) and Dartmouth (15:57.371) finished second and third.
In the LW 4+ competition, the Panthers took aim in lane 12 and finished with a time of 17:13.301 to take 12th in the standings. Penn (15:59.492) earned the top spot in the race, 1:13.809 ahead of Tech. Harvard (16:06.047) and Columbia (16:10.935) placed second and third overall.
