Florida Tech’s Continuing Education Senior Director Cindy Schmitt Named ABWA Woman of the Year

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Cindy Schmitt, senior director of continuing education at Florida Tech, has been named one of the Top Ten Business Women of the Year by the American Business Women’s Association.

The national award is the highest honor bestowed on an individual ABWA member. Recipients are recognized for achieving excellence in career, education and community involvement.

Schmitt, an ABWA member since 2015, is immediate past president of the award-winning Oceanside Charter Chapter of the ABWA in Melbourne.

“Top Ten candidates are a paradigm for ABWA members who strive for excellence in their careers, their communities, and in the Association,” said ABWA Executive Director René Street.

“It will be a privilege to recognize these outstanding women this year at the 2019 National Women’s Leadership Conference and to gain inspiration from their accomplishments.”

Schmitt has led Florida Tech’s Continuing Education program for the past 12 years.

Her supervisor, Interim Vice President for Online and Off-Campus Education Julie Shankle, said, “I am incredibly proud of Cindy.

This recognition reflects her hard work and dedication to excellence in service to the community, the university, and to the staff and programs in Continuing Education.”
