Things are heating up at Golfview Elementary where STEAM is the theme

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – The FUSE Studio is teeming with excitement as 5th grade students work on their engineering design challenge involving the physics behind roller coasters, while testing kinetic and potential energy, and the effects of gravity and friction on their roller coaster design.
Throughout the year, students will be exploring such topics as electric circuits, coding, robotics, and 3-D printing with hands-on application.
In the Aviation Simulation Lab, 6th grade students are soaring to new heights as they learn the history and forces of flight, the anatomy of a plane, as well as the math, science, and art of flying.
They are currently working on perfecting take-offs and landings and will soon be working on flight plans and fuel calculations for upcoming journeys.
A pilot is scheduled to visit the classes and a field trip to the Warbird Museum is being planned for this fall.
Golfview is also one of only two BPS elementary schools with an AVID program. Activities in these labs always result in college and career discussions.
Students learn about the many career opportunities in engineering and aviation, as well as the education and training required for these fields.
