BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Grandparents Raising Grandchildren of Brevard’s 4th Annual “Child First” Golf Tournament at Turtle Creek Golf Club in Rockledge was a great success as it raised almost $14,000 to benefit the needs of the agency.

GRG Founder and Executive Director Mary Ann Sterling said the volunteer team, made up of grandparents and grandchildren, started work before sunrise to ensure a smooth tournament.

“Twenty-three teams, including 88 golfers, participated this year and every golfer won a prize,” said Sterling.

New this year was breakfast during registration provided by Life Care Centers of America – Melbourne/Palm Bay.

The four-man scramble tournament included a few challenges by Dixon Golf, plus a Hole-in-One challenge to win a beautiful golf cart by Golf Carts Unlimited.

Prizes provided by Turtle Creek Golf Club, along with trophies, were awarded to the top three teams along with the winner of a putting contest, longest drive and closest to the pin.

Luncheon was held immediately following the tourney at Twisted Birch Sports Bar and Grill, while the awards and prizes were announced.

“This year each golfer was greeted by volunteers from the Space Coast Parrothead Club with a Lei and one of our signature “Loaded Mugs” as a memento of the event,” said Sterling.
