Melbourne Police Drug Sale Arrest Warrant Sweep Nets 19 Suspects, 13 More Remain at Large

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department conducted “Operation U-Tube II,” an illegal drug sale arrest warrant sweep after receiving community complaints of drug activity and acts of violence associated with the illegal activity, according to Melbourne Police Lt. Scott Mostert.

“This activity was reportedly occurring in the University Boulevard corridor of the city, to include in and around commercial establishments,” said Lt. Mostert.

“Based on these complaints, the Melbourne Police Department began a seven-month initiative to reduce this activity.”

On October 11, the initiative culminated with an arrest warrant sweep.

This operation was conducted by the Melbourne Police Department Special Investigations Unit, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Game Over Task Force and Uniform Patrol Officers of the Melbourne Police Department.

This investigation resulted in arrest warrants for  30 suspects and 19 suspects were arrested during the warrant operation on October 11.

According to Lt. Mostert, 13 suspects remain at large.

Additional Enforcement Activity

Search Warrant: On March 14, 2019, The Special Investigations Unit in conjunction with the SWAT team served a search and seizure warrant at 741 E. University Blvd after a month’s long investigation into the sales of narcotics out of this residence. A juvenile was caught fleeing the property at the time of the search warrant service.

The juvenile was arrested for possession of cocaine, alprazolam and turned over to JDC for secure detention.

A Glock 27 .40 caliber with one round in the chamber and five additional rounds in the magazine and an AK-47 .762 collapsible stock rifle with 30 rounds of ammunition were located in the home. 10.7 grams of crack cocaine packaged for sale were also seized from the home.

Search Warrant: On March 26, 2019, The Special Investigations Unit in conjunction with the SWAT team served a search warrant at 3304 Saxon St. Lavontio Johnson, dob 6/27/1991, was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Sell Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine, and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Seized were 20.3 grams of cocaine and items used to package the cocaine for street-level sales. There was also a loaded Glock 22 pistol located in the area of cocaine packaging at the time of the search warrants service.

Open Air/Sales Bust Operation: On April 05, 2019, The Special Investigations Unit in conjunction with the Community Response Team and Uniform Patrol Officers participated in a surveillance bust operation targeting the illegal activity blatantly being conducted in the parking lot of TT’s Grocery Store and Lizzy’s.

Seven arrests were made for narcotics and other related charges. Two of the arrests were juveniles. Various Narcotics were seized, to include Cocaine, MDMA, Alprazolam, and Marijuana.

Search Warrant: On May 30, 2019, The Special Investigations Unit served a search warrant at 2900 Colbert Cir after the Melbourne Police Department received neighborhood complaints of drug sales from the residence.

Drug paraphernalia was located in the residence, indicated the packaging of cannabis for sale. No arrests were made at the time of the service of the search warrant.

Search Warrant: On May 31, 2019, The Special Investigations Unit in conjunction with the SWAT team served a search warrant at 2617 Race Street.

Numerous subjects were contacted at the location. Detectives located and recovered a stolen M&P Shield 9mm pistol. Additionally, 60.3 grams of cannabis and .5 grams of cocaine were seized. One arrest was made for possession of less than 20 gram of cannabis.

Search Warrant: On July 09, 2019, The Special Investigations Unit in conjunction with the SWAT team executed a search warrant at 2602 Race Street and seized 3.5 grams cocaine, 6 Alprazolam (Xanax), 6.7 grams cannabis, .8 grams Fentanyl.

Additionally, two .22 caliber revolvers, a 12-gauge Remington pump shotgun, and a .25 caliber Titan pistol were seized.

Troy Devone Cummings was arrested and charged with Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Alprazolam, Possession of Paraphernalia. Devon Lorraine Digiulio was also arrested and charged with Possession of Paraphernalia.
