Two Trucks Carrying Rock Crash, Sends One to Trauma Unit and Shuts Down SR 528 Monday Morning

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT, ISLAND, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue units responded to a collision involving two trucks carrying rock on eastbound State Road 528 Beachline to Merritt Island on Monday morning.

Brevard County Fire Rescue Truck 41, Squad 41, Rescue 41, Rescue 60, Engine 42, District 40 and Air Care 3 were all on the call.

According to Brevard County Fire Rescue, a Trauma Alert was issued for one of the drivers, who was transported by helicopter to a local trauma center.

There was a significant fuel and hydraulic leak that was tended to by Brevard County Fire Rescue units until the wreckers could arrive.

The identity of the victim and the circumstances of the crash have not yet been released.

Brevard County Fire Rescue had a busy Monday morning as this is the second incident involving a dump truck in a matter of hours in Brevard County, with the other at State Road 524 at Adamson Road in West Cocoa.
