BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – The Q-LNG 4000, the first articulated tug-barge in the U.S. built to deliver liquefied natural gas to ships and ports, recently launched from the docks of VT Halter Marine in Pascagoula, Miss.

The 324-foot-long vessel is designed to carry 4,000 cubic meters of LNG and will refuel Carnival Cruise Line’s new Mardi Gras when it arrives at Port Canaveral in October 2020, becoming the first LNG-powered cruise ship to homeport in North America.

The Q-LNG 4000’s tug, the Q-Ocean Services, is scheduled to launch in late October.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2020 and will work under a 15-year contract for Shell Trading (U.S.) Co., delivering LNG fuel to ports in Florida and the Caribbean.

The 324-foot-long vessel will refuel Carnival Cruise Line’s cruise ship Mardi Gras when the first LNG-powered cruise ship homeported in North America arrives at Port Canaveral in October 2020.
