BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Friday Night Locker Room’s Steve Wilson and Lisa Nicholas were on hand Saturday for the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk/Run at The Avenue Viera.

They spoke with breast cancer survivors and family members of breast cancer survivors and also with Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, who is very passionate about cancer awareness.

Sheriff Ivey, along with his sidekick K9 Junny, started the event dressed in his pink shirt, proudly bearing his pink badge.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer was presented by the Health First Cancer Institute.

Nearly 250,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. That could be your mother, sister, daughter, your wife, or even you.

The American Cancer Society holds Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks so anyone touched by breast cancer won’t have to face their diagnosis alone. They do it to raise awareness and money to fund research, support services and early detection.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is set Saturday, October 26 at The Avenue Viera and is presented by the Health First Cancer Institute.

The Walk was a noncompetitive 3-mile walk that brings people together to make a difference for everyone who has been touched by breast cancer.

The event raises money to fund innovative research, provide free information and support, and to help people reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it’s most treatable.

The Avenue Viera was recognized as a Central Florida Humanitarian organization and was be honored during a Gala event at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place in Melbourne.
