4,000 Acre Wildfire at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge Contained: Officials

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Officials say they have contained a wildfire that has burned 4,000 acres in Merritt Island at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.

The fire began Wednesday around 3 p.m. on the Timberline Dike.

The Gator Creek Roads will be closed on Thursday and is expected to re-open by Friday.
