FHP: 66-Year-Old Satellite Beach Man Standing On Pineda Causeway Struck, Killed in Fatal Crash

FHP Lt. Kim Montes: for an unknown reason the pedestrian was standing in the roadway

A pedestrian was struck and killed in a vehicle crash on the Pineda Causeway and Tropical Trail about 6 a.m. Monday. According to Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Lt. Kim Montes, the victim, who has not yet been identified, is a 66-year-old man from Satellite Beach.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A pedestrian was struck and killed in a vehicle crash on the Pineda Causeway and Tropical Trail about 6 a.m. Monday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Lt. Kim Montes, the victim, who has not yet been identified, is a 66-year-old man from Satellite Beach.

Lt. Montes said that “for an unknown reason” the pedestrian was standing in the roadway in the westbound lanes of the Pineda Causeway and was struck by a motorist who changed lanes to avoid the pedestrian, but the unidentified man moved into the path of the vehicle.

Lt. Montes said that a second vehicle then struck the pedestrian as he came to a final rest in the roadway.

This incident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
