BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday morning at 2 a.m. with the clocks “falling back” one hour.

Daylight Saving Time occurs at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, which means you’ll want to turn your old-school clocks back before you go to bed Saturday night, Oct. 31.

Of course, the change is automatic for most smartphones, computers, tablets and other digital devices.

Daylight Saving Time — called daylight “savings” time by some — is the practice of setting the clocks forward one hour from standard time during the summer months, and back again in the fall, to make better use of natural daylight.

Don’t forget to change out all smoke detector batteries and make sure all are working properly.

According to the National Fire Prevention Association, roughly half of home fire deaths result from fires in the small percentage of homes with no smoke alarms.

In one-quarter of the reported fires in homes equipped with smoke alarms, the devices did not work resulting in a death rate that is up to 50 percent higher than in homes that have working smoke alarms.

Residents that don’t have working smoke detectors in their homes should take the necessary measures to acquire one for each end of the house, specifically outside all sleeping areas where it can be heard in the event of a fire.  Smoke detectors are available at local hardware stores and are easy to mount.
