BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol reports that four people were killed Tuesday evening in a semi-truck vs. pickup truck crash on Interstate 95 in Titusville.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Kim Montes, the victims included Juan Magana, 30; Jose Magana, 38; Jose Magana Guil; 58, and Jaime Magana, 50.

All of the victims were residents of Fort Pierce, Florida. Only the driver, Juan Magana, was wearing a seatbelt.

Lt. Montes said in a release that the incident happened at about 6 p.m. on Tuesday when the victims were traveling in the southbound right lane of I-95 in a 2018 Dodge Ram pickup truck hauling an excavator on a trailer and the left rear axle of the trailer it was carrying broke off.

The broken left rear axle traveled to the center lane where it caused a semi-truck, driven by 60-year-old Charlie Doles of Georgia, to lose control.

The semi-truck then traveled into the right lane and crashed into the pickup truck, which sent both vehicles onto the shoulder of the highway.

The pickup truck then overturned, ejecting two occupants from the vehicle, and came to a final rest under the semi-truck, which had jackknifed.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, semi-truck driver Doles was not injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
