BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Friday Night Locker Room’s Orville Susong and Steve Wilson were at the Shady Oaks Cemetery in Melbourne as members of the public pitched in for a cleanup day last week.

Michael Cheek, Bruce Rothschild, Leonard Ross, Col. Tim Thomas, Viera High School Army JROTC cadets, members of the American Legion Post 163 and 191, and others participated in this endeavor.

This was the last clean-up before the upcoming Wreaths Across America ceremony.

Food was supplied by Chief Cornerstone Baptist Church in South Melbourne and drinks were provided by the JW Mathers Jr. American Legion Post 163, with thanks going to Leonard Ross and Rose Yeary.

Shady Oaks Cemetery was established in 1912 by the African American community and is the final resting place for 31 military veterans and more than 260 African-American residents of Brevard County.
